POLICY ON MAKEUPS: I plan to give no make-ups. Thus, if you have an actual emergency which prevents you from taking an exam, I will need convincing evidence in order to be willing to accommodate your special situation. If you can provide no such evidence, you will receive a zero for that exam. There will be no make-ups for missed quizzes but I will count only your best five quizzes.

WITHDRAWALS: I will sign no withdrawals after November 30, 2009.   Note that there is a new university policy on withdrawals:  All withdrawals after the drop/add period are to be given a WP (withdrew passing) or WF (withdrew failing) or WN (student did not participate in any credit-earning activity before withdrawing).  My understanding is that any student who does not withdraw earns a grade of A, B, C, D or F (the X grade has been eliminated).

CELL PHONES AND PAGERS:   Please make sure they are turned off during class.

ARRIVAL:  It is very distracting when students arrive late.  Please be on time.  If this is abused, I will impose a “no entry permitted after class has begun” rule.

WARNING TO THE WISE: It is essential to success in this course that attendance be regular and that homework be done daily. Do not allow yourself to get behind.
