This semester we are arranging study groups for various courses to meet
along with a tutor who is well qualified to assist with that course.
In addition to providing help with math, the tutors are trained to help
students take responsibility for their own learning. They can help you
to: (a) Learn how to study math, (b) Learn how to get the most from
their textbooks, (c) Learn how to prepare for tests and quizzes,
(d) Learn how to overcome math and test anxiety
Hours: Monday -- Thursday 08:30 am TO 05:00 pm
Friday: 08:30 am TO 02:00 pm
Saturday (Room 216 State Hall): 12:00 pm TO 04:00 pm
No appointment necessary, but tutoring by appointment is also available.

PUTNAM EXAM
The annual Putnam Exam will be help this year on Saturday,
06/Dec/08. This is a nation-wide competition which is open to
essentially all undergraduates. There is NO CHARGE to take this
examination. The emphasis is on problems which require elementary
methods but some originality to be solved. Freshman and sophomores
are especially encouraged to enter the competition. A brochure
describing the exam will be found outside of 1193 FAB. Interested
students should either attend the organizational meeting which will
be Room 1198, FAB (Math Resource Center), Friday 03/Oct/08, 02:00
pm; or contact Robert Bruner, 1193 FAB, 577-2499 before that
meeting. They can also lease a message at 577-2479, leave a note in
his mailbox at the Department, or contact him by email at
