Students who use the Lab and find software or hardware problems should report to the on-duty graduate assistant (GA) or the student manager, who should report to the faculty manager or system administrator.

Operating Systems

 The lab is equipped with approximately 30 Pentium Computers running Microsoft Windows 95/98 and Red Hat Linux operating systems.

Lab Rules and Information

  1. No Food or Drink: Eating or drinking in the lab is prohibited.
  2. Sign-In and Sign-Out: When you enter the lab you must write your name, course, and time-in on a sign-in form. The GA may ask you to show your picture ID. When you are done, you should sign out by filing in the time-out on the form.
  3. Lab Hours: The lab is open most time of the day, Monday through Friday. Occasionally, a class meets in the lab and it will be closed during that period for other students. Open hours are posted on the door of the lab, on the web (http://www.math.wayne.edu/~yang/cai.htm) and can also be checked by calling 313-577-0529.
  4. Software and Hardware Configuration: In no circumstances, should a student alter the software or hardware configuration. Do not install any software. Speak to the attendant if you have any questions.
  5. Saving Files: You should save files to your floppy disk (drive a:\). If you need temporarily save a file to the hard disk, use the folder C:\temp\math, which is deleted regularly.
  6. Turning computer on or off: Never do it. The GA is responsible for it.
  7. Appropriate Use: The lab is for work related to a math class. The GA is at liberty to ask a student to leave if she feels that the student is using the computer inappropriately or not following the rules.


Reserved Lab Hours

During the following reserved lab hours, the Lab is dedicated to the reserved group. Other people may use the Lab provided that they do not disturb the reserved group and there are extra computers left.
